what we do
what we do
Our mission is to provide men with the support and resources to build healthy relationships with their partner, families and communities.
We believe in the value of both men and women, a community-orientation, and a commitment to non-violence.
MAPS provides men with the opportunity to address issues and receive support from other men facing similar struggles. Group counselling is the primary service offered.
We offer short-term individual counselling to those who attend the group. You and the counsellor will have weekly counselling sessions approximately one hour in length. In this time, you and counsellor will work in steps towards the goal that you have established for yourself.
MAPS goals are to be preventative, educational, and to promote awareness of certain issues affecting men. MAPS provides community awareness on issues relating to domestic violence, through workshops, presentations, schools and employee relations initiatives.
Through the Healthy relationships program MAPS will gather and analysis data for treatment program design. The research process will be tested on many different levels, with the desired outcome of knowledge, where such learning brings meaning that is valid for all members of the community.
